As a company, we value ethics & sustainability! We work to make green choices, and have committed to offering at least one B-Corp certified roaster. In the coffee industry, that’s a roaster who’s been verified to meet high, audited standards of social/environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. They prioritize the "triple bottom line" (people, planet, profit), ensuring fair wages, ethical, direct sourcing, and sustainable, regenerative practices. That’s part of why we serve Stumptown for our Espresso and Cold Brew. Our main provider for drip coffee is Intent Coffee, a local small business with a passion for the developing world and a love for coffee. We also love to buy local, so most of our providers are based right here in Oregon! Check our Menu to see who we partner with.
Community
We want to be where life happens. Our cafe is designed with this in mind. Comfy chairs, community tables, and a dedicated kids area. We want you to feel comfortable whether you are here for business, catching up with a friend, or needing to get the kids out of the house.
In addition to providing a space for our community to gather, we invest the profits from our business into the Gresham area. Our first priority is to fund East County’s Diaper Depot, as there is more need than they can provide for. Eventually, we would love to invest via donations to programs and non-profits that work to better our community through their focus on areas such as mental health, addiction recovery, at-risk youth, income assistance, houselessness, and hunger.
Connection
We want to encourage people to spend less time on electronic devices and more time unplugging and engaging with other humans through hands-on healthy competition. We have an extensive board game collection that you are welcome to use while in the shop. Here are some of our offerings:

Our shelves are filled with time-tested books marked by literary beauty and redemptive vision. You’ll find mostly fiction and poetry, alongside carefully chosen works of history, biography, and memoir. Because we value sustainability, most of our collection is gently used.

Can I order online?
As a new(ish) business, we are still working on getting all our systems in place. But as soon as we can, yes, we hope to offer online ordering! You can, however, order electronic gift cards online - just click over to the Menu page!
Who Owns Legacy Coffee & Books?
The business is owned but not operated by Legacy Church. As a corporation, the coffee shop is overseen by its own Board of Directors according to its own set of Bylaws.
Do the profits of Legacy Coffee & Books fund the church ministries?
No, the profits of Legacy Coffee & Books go into the business and into community non-profits.
Do you take book donations?
Yes! As long as they are in good shape, but no children’s books, please.
Can I use the upstairs room?
Yes! Click Reservations from the top menu to request it!
Do you offer vegan/gluten free items?
Absolutely! We carry Petunia’s GF/Vegan pastries, and you can build any breakfast or lunch sandwich on multiple types of bread, with vegan and standard protein options! We offer Oat, Almond, or Coconut milk alternatives at no extra cost!
Does the coffee shop discriminate in its hiring practices?
Absolutely not. At Legacy Coffee & Books, the dignity of each individual is respected. Legacy Coffee & Books does not discriminate against job applicants or employees on the basis of sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic status, educational background, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, physical disability, or marital status. Any discrimination or harassment will be prohibited.
Does Legacy Coffee & Books pay taxes like any other business?
Yes, Legacy Coffee & Books pays property and payroll taxes, workers comp insurance, and files a standard business tax return.
Can I plug in?
Yes, you’ll find standard outlets and USB ports by the tables against the ‘log’ wall, and some by the bar that overlooks the kids’ play space. There's also a bank of power cords at the back bar.
What's with the art on the walls?
Curated displays from local artists and artisans rotate through every so often, which you can enjoy or purchase. Interested in displaying your work for sale? Email us!
Very laid back and quiet. Great for getting some work done or studying. Several different comfortable places to hang out. Board and card games free to use while you're there. Plus a small play area for your kiddos ♥️ always clean.
